Benefits of Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy is a type of physical therapy that focuses on hands-on treatment of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Common manual therapy techniques include Graston Technique, Functional Dry Needling, and Massage Therapy. These forms of manual therapy techniques, as well as others we offer, can have significant benefits such as improved range of motion, decreased pain, and improved recovery time. Read below for more detailed information on the manual therapy services we offer.
Cupping therapy
Cupping therapy, also known as myofascial decompression, is used to help with pain relief and musculoskeletal injuries like strains, sprains and back injuries. During this the therapist puts special cups on the skin to create suction of the muscle tissue. This causes the tissue beneath the cup to be drawn up and swell causing increase in blood flow to affected area. The use of cupping therapy can improve blood flow, circulation, and reduce inflammation, providing you with improved mobility on your road to recovery.
Dry Needling
Functional Dry Needling (FDN) is an effective treatment for neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. The use of this technique requires thin filiform needles, without medication or injection, to reduce pain and improve movement by targeting trigger points in the muscle. Using dry needling as treatment improves your pain control, reduces muscle tension, and normalizes dysfunctions of the motor end plates, the sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to muscles. All this can help speed up your return to normal activities!
Graston Technique
The Graston Technique uses stainless steel tools to perform muscle mobilizations by using cross-friction massage to rub against the grain of scar tissue. This form of therapy reintroduces small amounts of trauma to the injured area which sometimes causes temporary inflammation that benefits the injury by increasing the rate and amount of blood flow, initiating the healing process of the affected tissues for faster recovery.
Massage gun
We use various forms of muscle massage guns and buffer units to provide deep vibrations, pressure, and mild warmth to the muscle tissue. This can increase blood flow to the area reducing inflammation and overall pain or soreness to the tissue. Other benefits include improved mobility and movement, reduced rehabilitation time, and injury prevention.
